AquAbility enjoyed a second paddle board clinic of the summer on a 103 degree day thanks to a grant from Warfighter Sports and DSUSA and a special thanks to Idaho River Sports.
A great time was had by all!
The Swim Clinic given by AquAbility Honorary Board Member Dara Torres at Boise State University was a fantastic event. Dara gave a lively talk covering her life as a swimmer through her Olympic experiences, interspersed with training methods, tips for overcoming anxiety in competition, nutrition, and dry land training. Following her talk, Dara coached the participants in the pool, working on specific drills for maximizing efficiency with body position, and pulling and kicking techniques. Clinic participants all found the clinic beneficial and fun. After the clinic, Dara joined with AquAbility participants for a photo opportunity.
Thank you, Dara, for helping raise money for AquAbility Programs!
Check out this video of students at Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding, Idaho over the 2013-14 school year swimming with AquAbility. This program was made possible in part by funds from The Joan Leidy Foundation, to whom AquAbility, and these students, are deeply grateful.
